Beautiful dress, but sizing issue for me

I normally wear a size 8 but struggle with dresses fitting me in the bust. I got a size 12 in this which actually fit me in the waist but then was way too big in the bust. It seems like the proportions are off. If the return policy had been longer, I would’ve waited and gone to see if I could’ve gotten alterations. I may end up buying this again if I can’t find something that fits me better.
